Millie and Freya

Sisters, Millie and Freya were both diagnosed with autism before they were three years old and spent time in our Circle Centre having been introduced to the setting through their Speech and Learning Therapist, Louise.

Mum, Amy, recalls ‘In lots of ways I feel incredibly lucky; the girls were diagnosed very quickly and we had an amazing paediatrician. It can feel overwhelming with such a diagnosis but once we found Circle Centre and the girls got their places we could not have felt any more supported. From the first time we viewed the centre we knew it was the right place for the girls, not only was it in a beautiful setting but it was so calm and relaxed’

‘Millie and Freya loved the Circle Centre where they were free to learn and explore at their own place whilst the family felt comforted and supported, with no judgement – just understanding’.

Amy stresses ‘Even on a bad day, when perhaps you might have had a bad night, the staff at the centre always found the good, the positive’

As a busy Mum dealing with two children with autism, Amy could not have felt more supported by the centre, it really was home from home, ‘It was more like the girls were with family or friends rather than an educational setting. The staff had such a great level of understanding’.

The centre provided stability for the family allowing Mum, Amy,  to get some much needed rest knowing that the girls were in such a great environment being cared for.

‘One of the wonderful things about the centre was meeting parents in similar situations, who appreciate the small triumphs in day to day life’

‘Circle Centre was a great introduction to the girls’ education – helping them to find out how they like to learn,  their likes and dislikes, all within a safe and friendly setting. Freya, who has a tendency to isolate herself was free to be herself without masking’

The girls, now 7 and 6, kept Mum and Dad busy throughout the summer holidays. Freya with her love of numbers and letters and Millie who has so much energy for running as well as role play with her dolls – both loving the outdoors. Even now that the girls are enjoying being in a special setting school Mum Amy admits that she has often got back in touch with Ella at the Circle Centre for support and advice. ‘It’s great to have people who understand your family that you trust to help you and give you advice and information. I do miss them!’
